Something's happened. I've noticed just how alike 40K and Half-Life are story-wise. What do you like most about half life? You can select all answers, but in order to say everything, pick the last option please.

I personally like it due to the signiture style, of easy puzzles, fast-paced/stratigic (depending on your health) game play. I also really like the story, of a world in flames.
The Vortigaunts are pretty cool too...

Not really sure there's any one aspect that I can identify as being the key reason I love Half-Life and HL2.
If I had to say, I'd say it was its original approach to incorporating puzzles that fit seamlessly into the environment and storyline. It's not like most shooters where everything happens for no apparent reason. You go through varied environments for a reason, and not because the writers thought it was time for a change of scenery. Also, the physics puzzles in HL2 are a lot of fun and so are the creatures. It's such a shame that Vorts and 'Crabs were the only creatures that made it into the second one. Loved the different "flavours" of headcrab, though; that was genius!

... I cannot say. I would have to write a several page essay on how awesome Half-Life is. I've already written 4 essays today so I wont be making it 5.
Basically; everything about it.

I like half-life predominantly for the story. I think its well-thought out and very well represented in game. My personnal belief is that a game is actually the best way to tell a story. In a game, you follow the trials and interactions of a main character and are literally put into their shoes. The characters are also the typical favourites. They are represented in a way that makes them feel real which really adds to the atmosphere that the game brings.
As a game, it is very well done. What separates this from every other shooter is the ZPEG. It is very incorporated into the game and the puzzles you are presented with are also very done.
I also loved the vehicle bits. They were just awesome and had the movie car chase feel to them.

I agree with all of that, bar the part where you said games are better mediums for stories than books. I <3 my books

Nothing wrong with books. I enjoy reading as well. Each medium has its pros and cons for me. For the telling of the actual story, I prefer games. For the descriptions of the settings and appearances, most definately books. But that's a different topic
